Random thoughts

So glad its Wednesday. already had 2 dr visits with sis this week. He keeps insisting its an upper respiratory infection & not a throat infection...not so sure. As of this morning she only had 3 wet diapers since Monday. So afraid we are going to have a repeat of January and end up back in the hospital. He told me to do whatever it took to get liquids down. Including letting little man aggrivate her. If she thinks he is getting a drink of her sippy she has a fit. So at lunch time he says, "hey mom, since I've been so good and aggrivated sis today like the doctor said, can we go to Chick Fil A?" When I explained that the dr didn't really mean just making her scream he said "OH" like he didn't believe me. We went anyway. However we ended up leaving after he offended 2 grandparents playing with their grandkids when he said to another little boy "lets get the h*** out of here!" I could have died. Off to the bathroom for a lesson in manners & language. Then daddy got the phone call with the same lecture (since I am sure that is where he learned it) A stop at Academy to purchase a new tube for the boat, because dad busted theirs last year, & the mobile home supply store for new door knobs and deadbolts. I had no idea that stuff was so expensive! Then home to let poor sissy take a much needed nap.
Congratulations to the big boys for another win last night. Several great plays and hits. It took a bit to get going this season but I knew you could do it! So proud of you all.

How neat to have 4 great grandparents at his preschool graduation! Two of them came all the way from TX.
he was DONE at this point. there was one more pic with his Nanaw & Papa but I accidentally deleted it... hmmm. can we stage another one?!
Thanks to TH for taking Speck to his game. Hated to miss it. & thanks to SC, we got lots of texts to keep us updated. Maybe tonight will be better!

weekend get away

About a week ago hubby called my mom and asked if she would keep the kids all weekend. So we headed to the lake Friday night after the ball game. Saturday we ended up working around the house more than planned, I painted & he worked outside. After we were finished I think he really wanted to take a nap but I wanted to go shopping...& I won! We headed to H.S. and ventured up & down the main street where all the neat little shops and bath houses are. Then out to dinner at my very most favorite restaurant...Angels. Its Italian and wonderful! Thank goodness for Nanaw...& this weekend was probably a little more than she bargained for. One of the air conditioners went out & the repair man was over there at 11:30 Sat night fixing it :(

what our summer looks like

me & one of my favorite guys having ice cream floats on the back porch
and having deep discussions about life. ooh to be 5 again :)

heading to the ball park. I wish I would have kept snapping pics as he hit first base. Hubby was coaching & he kept telling him to run. little man turned and looked at him and put his hands in the air and said, but I don't want to run. everyone in the stands cracked up. dad didn't think it was quite as funny!

Friday night Speck got to pitch. It was his second outing.

I like it so much better when he plays short stop. This makes my stomach hurt. Hubby says he is a "junk" pitcher, meaning he has no control and never throws the same thing twice. hmmm...nice way of saying he still needs lots of work?!

good intentions

hubby got me an appointment for a massage today. usually I love going. however today my therapist was not the "norm". I think I decided either he was having a bad day or I had a lot of tension. pretty sure I will be sore tomorrow and may even have a bruise or two! ouch:(

Its never good when....

someone walks up to you & says, "I have to tell you what your son did"...at least not when little man is your son. She didn't say which son, but sadly, I never thought, even for a second that she might be talking about Speck. I was totally embarassed by her story, not surprised at all, but red in the face and wanted to crawl under the nearest rock. Sorry, can't even bring myself to type it, lets just say it has to do with "elbows" and leave it at that. I love him dearly but OH MY WORD!!

schedule change & scary bears

So my wonderful little sleeper is quickly changing to a night owl. This crazy baseball schedule is about to do us in...& its just started! Early games interfere with her afternoon nap and late games interfere with bedtime. Wonder if they would change them all to 6:30 to accommodate a sleepy mom?!
Apparently we have a cabin in some woods behind our house where a man was eaten by a bear. As if the ticks weren't enough, poor miss LH. Hope you aren't too traumatized!!

Uh-Ho!

I'm surprised its taken this long, little man got in trouble at school today. I ask periodically. Usually when he has had an ongoing time not minding me. She always says no. Today she met me at the door...never a good sign. & said he didn't finish his paper so she handed it back. He made a face at her, put it in his box and walked away. Then when she told him it was time to come in from the playground he told her no. Not that I'm not used to this, but he's not normally like that toward others. We had quite the discussion, but apparently I'm not scary enough, because he still didn't understand how serious I was when we got home. He did finish the paper and write her an apology note but not sure its all "there" yet. I forsee yet another discussion with someone a little scarier later in the evening. We will see...

another one for the books

I came across these old pics earlier...

this was last year's school picture. so cute & soooo rotten! He comes in this afternoon with a terrified look on his face. you just knew he had done something. he finally admitted he had chased a lizard into the neighbors yard. and our neighbors aren't that close so he had wandered a bit...then he saw a snake in their dog pen. so what does he do? he climbed the fence into the dog pen. thankfully it is a friendly lab. then the owner of the house comes out and asks what he is doing in the dog pen! then tells him he needs to get home to his mother! How many things are wrong with this picture? 1. a mother who doesn't know where her child is 2. a child who has wandered out of his yard 3. chasing a snake 4. climbs into a dog pen OH MY WORD!! I think I am definately being paid back for things his daddy did. Who, by the way just laughed about it.
Sweet Speck, pre braces. O how he needed them!

precious baby girl. seems like just yesterday...

Cabo 2008. you can really see the difference in size in this pic!

and especially in this one. he would not be happy with me for posting these :)

this was april 2008...right before we found out about sis. Can I say how much I love, love, love him?! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and father for my children. It doesn't hurt that he brought me 1 pound of chocolate covered strawberries today! But I would love him even without them;)

busy Thursday

Poor little girl. Had a check up yesterday and got shots. I didn't know that was part of the deal so daddy got a last minute phone call to come save the day.

Its coming! One more week. Seems like he should be sisters age :(
However, he is very much a 5 year old little boy. When sis & I got home from the doctor they (Speck, little man & the baby sitter) had dug up 100 worms. Literally 100. They counted them. There was also a frog swimming in my sink. At least all the rain is good for something! Their sitter was a soon to be GHS grad who I used to babysit. How old does that make me?!
Specks baseball game last night...what can you say? The boys did a really good job. Turns out church league rules are not "real baseball" rules when it comes to pitching. Hubby felt bad about it and said he should have known. BUT he asked the home plate ump about putting BB in as pitcher the last inning & was told it was OK. In fact the "yellow hat" said if he would have known that he wouldn't have called the game. Definately a learning experience. For Speck too, said he couldn't hear 3rd base coach say "stop". We cleaned his ears out this morning!! So proud of all of them.

Speck's 2 "shadows"

Little man wants so badly to sleep in his brother's room, but he is a terrible bed buddy so Speck refuses to let him. We put him in his own bed but wake up to this.
Can't blame him for not wanting to share anymore room...Zoey takes up 1/2 the bed, and she snores.
when they are at school this is her day...just waiting on him to get home
I tried to take a picture this morning since they were all dressed and in pretty good moods but my flash reflected
and by the time I got it ready for a second try, she was done!
this is her new favorite past time. she loves to sit in her doll stroller and have one of the boys push her. surprisingly, they fight over who gets to do it. we'll see how long that lasts!

the story behind the "addiction"

Ok, so I caved. I re-opened my fb account today. A few months ago it was only there for a brief moment before I chickened out. TH & I had the conversation last week about protecting your families & some of the things you have to do to achieve that protection. Also about the many different ways Satan appears. Lets just say I saw him again this week and for some very strange reason felt like my own fb account was one way to at least be seen in this fight.

School update:
Well, since KY didn't work out, we are on to AL. So far its looking optomistic. Don't want to jinx it so won't say anymore.

career change...according to a 5 year old

"meeting" with program director this morning. went about like i thought it would, but not like i hoped. seems staying home to take care of a family and not using your nursing license causes a problem when you want to go back to school. i need 1000 hours of clinical work within the last 24 months. and i have been home for 18 of those 24. doesn't sound like too much but when you do the math, it is a LOT. not to mention when i talked to my acquaintance last week about my new career path she was not at all optomistic. at least not if we want to stay in this area of the country. great. now on to plan b. not sure what that is yet...still working on it & getting frustrated. as we were on our way home, and i was about to cry, little man says, in a very sweet little voice, "mom, how was your meeting this morning?" (loved that he even remembered to ask) & as we were talking about it he said "you can always be a car destroyer" "what?" "you know, when somebody doesn't want their car anymore you smash it". sounds like a good career change to me but for now i think i'm back to wildlife rescuer. as i have to go release a (live) frog he has in a ziploc bag. he says he isn't tough enough to let it go because he cares too much about creatures. poor frog.

9

Speck is 9 today. Actually, right about now. He was born @ 3:32 pm. How fast time flies. He had a few buddies over last night and happy to report no major injuries or events. Whew! (not even a new shower story!!) We did have a little dissapointment when the "bear meat" actually turned out to be chicken. And a slight scare that resulted in a wet bathroom wall, some neglected teeth because someone packed an unfamiliar toothbrush that was "probably, like my dads when he was 32, or something"...otherwise just a fun filled evening.
not sure what these two were up to

she doesn't like to ride and apparently doesn't want anyone else to either

who knew kiddie toys were still so much fun?! (I guess when you add guns to the mix, anything can be entertaining)
loading up on nerf bullets
I think this one would be good in a high school yearbook :)
can I carry that ball glove and ride at the same time?
a great group of boys
a silly string fight
was just too much fun...but sis and I were off limits!
then on to the water balloons & we were REALLY off limits
they couldn't wait to pound each other. these were the last of the balloons (see TG just waiting for me to say "go")
a few managed to stay dry
and a few managed to get soaked
but I think they had a lot of fun
love the look on EW's face!
close range, a couple of them had some red marks, ouch!
the two little E's played catch
ready & waiting
the big boys rode bikes
& scooters
& ripsticks
they had their own game of baseball going. the coaching was um, interesting!
pizza & cookie cake was a hit. They all made it through the night. But didn't go to bed til about 2 am & were up @ 6. O well, thats what a sleep over is for, right? Looked out the window this morning and saw them playing baseball again, on the drive, just like they were told, but they were batting into the garage, & it was open & my car was parked inside. I shut the door & told hubby to stay in the house ;)
We took the boys to VB to ride the train this afternoon. It was the Old Timers Day Festival ( did not know that before we planned the train excursion) People looked at us like we were NUTS walking through there with 9 boys. One lady asked if they were all there with us and then if they were all mine. When we walked past she shook her head and said "Oh my word"
loaded & ready to go . while we were waiting we had discussions about girlfriends. seems several of the boys have had the same girlfriend. and one has been "dating" for quite some time now. Don't think I am ready for all that just yet!
It wasn't exactly what we thought it was going to be. But a different experience anyway. Hopefully it was more fun than not. & afterward we had lunch at La Huerta. Thanks to such a wonderful group of friends who helped him celebrate. Happy Birthday to my sweet 9 year old little boy.
