My God moment

In bible study she asks us to start with our God moment...Today I was driving. I had a "light bulb". I have been struggling with a situation over the last few weeks. I knew what I should do but I was afraid to. Today I decided to do it anyway. It felt great :)

phone call

So, on Friday I got a voicemail from Specks teacher. By the time I could call her back he was in the car with me & I decided to wait. On Sunday I got another phone call from her. She was just following up because he failed another test last week and I had to sign it so I took the opportunity to write a little note. That's what all concerned moms do, right? She was/is very friendly, and Iunderstand she doesn't know him, that he is (or was) a straight A student. She doesn't realize this is TOTALLY out of character and I am flipping out. She says he doesn't pay attention in class and has a hard time following directions. Really? Speck? (now, little man...ok, I would buy that) She is very positive and patient, which is a good thing, but I am having a hard time. He is finallly getting past the bad days, where friends are concerned, but I refuse to let it be at the expense of school work. I think the counselor thinks I am a nut case, since I have called him several times too, and it is quite possible at this point! I just can't sit back and wait to see what happens. What would any of you do?!

good grief!

I laid sis down for a nap & was busy doing laundry, dishes, etc. She slept about 2 1/2 hours, as usual. Then I heard her crying, very unusual. She always wakes up laughing and smiling. When I opened the door, there she was. Standing beside her crib. She had fallen out! Talk about a horrible feeling. My knees went weak. Poor baby I have put her through everything I can think of just to check her out. I think it hurt my stomach worse than it hurt her. She if fine. Guess its time for a toddler bed :(

Thanks for the prayers for my aunt. I am afraid I made it sound like, well, you know...so just to clarify, since its such a long trip, we only get to go once or twice a year (& since I always have 3 kids tagging along) they decided it would be a good idea to come now, while things are still pretty good. The doctors told her that surgery more than likely wouldn't prolong anything & considering the healing process, it could make the time harder. So their plan is to treat the symptoms and keep her comfortable. As of now she hasn't told anyone what kind of time frame they gave her. And who knows, they are wrong all the time!

Well...

It wasn't good news for my aunt. My mom's brother called and asked if we could come. The cancer has spread and they have offered her "comfort measures" at this point. We are leaving Thursday.

our day

Ice skating in September is colder than in July!
We really needed sweatshirts.

Sis stayed a little warmer up top & got to have a snack with Nanaw while we played a bit.

And posed for a picture...trying not to fall

Then it was on to the pool. The water was a little cool for my taste but it didn't slow them down any. And best of all there is no charge on Sunday! A whole afternoon of "free" fun!

Take II (as she put it)

In a few weeks it will be 16 years since I met, who I now know, was my future hubby. A few weeks after that it will be 12 years (& 3 kids)since I married my best friend. He is thoughtful, romantic, sweet, caring, loving, and so much more. Yes, for those of you who know him I am talking about MY husband ;) its just a side no one else sees too often! Anyway, our wedding pictures weren't the best. It was a stressful day and there was so much going on. Our photographer was only there to get a check and didn't care (or really know in my opinion) what he was doing. I thought about it for our 10 year anniversary but I was VERY pregnant with sis so he surprised me with renewing our vows. Last year I was planning a 1 year old birthday party and still adjusting to chasing 3 kiddos. And here we are, already another year later, so the wonderfully talented SW re-did them for us tonight. She has a few posted on the AMC blog. It was a lot of fun and I can already tell I am going to be in trouble...she did GREAT as usual. Hubby was a good sport about the whole thing, monkey suit & all. SW...Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (not that I don't love him bald head and all, but he had a head full of beautiful black curly hair the first time around ;)

note to self

check calendar before making plans. SO SORRY!!! I feel awful :(
all because I didn't realize that our outdoor "plans" were THIS Friday, so off to sing a song, do a dance, whatever might work!

a perfect "do nothing day"

So I took the boys to school this morning then sis & I ran to WM. On home to make oreo cookie balls & cheese dip & maybe sneak a bite here & there. Folded 2 loads of laundry. Rearranged a few pictures, did the dishes all before she got too sleepy. She has decided she wants to be rocked with a bottle again & I'm not sure why, but I'm not fighting her on it. Just loving all the extra time we get. So we rocked for a while and both of us laid down to take a nap! It was great even though I only dozed off & on for about an hour, she slept for 3. It was a perfect do nothing, stay at home, boring day. And as of now, I'm still in my pj's (but I have brushed my teeth:)

side note: I tried to paint her toenails b/c I thought she would like it. OH NO she did NOT. She thought they were "boo-boos" on her toes and cried until I took it off. When we were at WM this morning she pointed to the polish remover & kept saying "no no mama, huh huh". Poor baby, I think I traumatized her!!

gotta love the simple stuff

last year he couldn't drive by himself. this year he is getting better and it is ALL he wants to do so I am outside from the time they get home.
sis doesn't like the noise so she stays in her swing or in my lap on the back porch

cheese! she has such a personality. so different than the boys.

a rotten, rotten little girl. but I wouldn't trade a second of it.
*Speck was FINE when he got home yesterday. He just didn't want to be at school. and I ended up being the meanest mom ever because I wouldn't let him play outside.
*We had an impromptu date night at home. all 3 kids were in bed asleep by 7:30 & hubby wanted to try a new recipe (he likes to cook & I hate to so it worked well) and the food turned out really good. so we had a quiet dinner & watched Mon night fb. no worse than going to WM when we go out on a date & for some reason we usually end up there before the night is over! he even cleaned the kitchen. Now if I could just figure out how to let the laundry fairy know where we live...she keeps missing us ;)
*Since sis went to bed so early she woke up around 12 a.m. & thought she had taken a nap. O well, I got lots of good cuddle time. (about 2 hours actually) She just wanted to rock and kept smiling & saying "hi mommy".
*I woke up with another little snuggle bug in my bed. at some point little man crawled in between us and tucked right in. Those are the moments I have to remember...its what saves him!
*Speck was so sweet this morning. heard lots of "I love you's" and "thanks mom". Two steps forward and one step back. I'll take it.

uh-ho

he had the basketball. sis wanted it. didn't see it happen but I heard him yell & she took off running. then Speck says, "you got beat up...by a girl"! in her defense, his nose bleeds VERY easy ;)

getting the rocket ready, a little impatiently

watching it go

& watching it land in our neighbors trees!
got a phone call from school this a.m. Speck isn't feeling well. since little man had been sick I caved. (thanks TH for bringing him to me)thinking something might have happened at school. he won't talk about it but he definately isn't sick.

ready

starting a new bible study this week. can't wait to see what its about. really missed the fellowship of these ladies since we finished the last one. having a struggle between the "right thing" and "the easy way" the last week or two. hoping it will help push me in the direction I already know I should be going but have been afraid of taking.

at any age

*friends are important. very important. they are priceless actually. and Iam blessed beyond words.
*little man is sick. upper respiratory infection. T 102.4. had to miss a boys only weekend at the lake and get stuck at home with stinky old mom. in a moment of feeling better he got to ride the 4 wheeler. he hit a tree. hmmm...illness is bad enough without injury so we decided to play the wii. he couldn't get it to cooperate and he says (to the tv) "are you kidding me? this is rediculous!" he's 6, so just the words much less the tone, made me laugh. we played jenga. then we built things with the jenga blocks. and did I mention all the good snuggle time. poor guy. I hate it when he's sick but I sure do like the attention I get ;)

progress...I think

Lunch with the counselor yesterday and 3 new friends. no tears.

Sis has a no joke black eye this morning. Fell off the couch last night and hit the coffee table. Speck was holding her and she jumped. he was crying just as hard as she was.

Got out an "old dress" to have cleaned & pressed for pics next week. of just me & hubby. I'm more excited than he is. According to him its always a painful experience but this maybe more than most. However, it is hunting season so I have no pity what-so-ever!

still struggling

he talked with the counselor Friday and today. lots and lots and lots of tears this afternoon. counselor says there isn't a "quick fix" and it will take time. not sure how much time I have in me. please let it come sooner than later.

Rewind

just to catch up a minute:
*Labor Day weekend was opening day of dove season. Hubby took both boys by himself this year. Little Man got to shoot the 4-10. Almost took off dad's head...lesson learned :)
*I wake boarded again. first time up I think 1/2 the lake went up my nose. second time up my feet got above my head very much on accident. third time up I actually made it a good ways. progress for "an old lady" as my boys put it so sweetly.
* Speck had an xray Tues a.m. and another one today. quarter is still there, it is moving so thats good news. will keep watching.
*we are trying to play "keep up" with SW...air conditioning issues! (not NEAR as serious though)
*got to tag along with hubby on a quick business trip to Denver. weather was absolutely gorgeous. beautiful. wonderful. (etc...) did not take ONE SINGLE picture :) but I had my camera in my purse the whole time. we saw a few old college friends and had a fun dinner.
*left behind 2 crying little boys and a baby girl that refused to sleep. good thing their nanaw loves them. I got lots of sad phone calls. mostly because they had to ride the bus I think. and what neat things they can learn on the bus...as if he's not rotten enough :)
*I have to meet with the counselor at school. Speck is still not doing well. now we are having academic issues. back to the crying and fit throwing. not sure what to do about it. today he wants to move to TX. what?!
*yesterday a family friend had her first baby. I used to babysit her. how old does that make me?
*the hospital called & wants me to come in for a second interview. stomach ache.
*on a little heavier note, my aunt was just diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. she has 4 daughters & 8 grandchildren. they told her the prognosis is "not good". if you could remember them in your prayers please.
*I thought I was doing the kids devotional for them. but I missed it "just for me" while we were gone.
*my baby girl is 20 months old now. O. MY. WORD. :(

TGIF

Last night we had a late night baseball game...oh how I miss the time limits. & got a last minute text that we needed to bring fruit roll ups for an AR party. Which by the way he hasn't tested on AT ALL yet. Wonder what he will be doing over this long weekend ;) Thanks to dad who made a quick trip to Target on the way to the game. The game that I had to leave early to get the other two in bed. They passed out on the way home and went to bed "ballpark dirty". Yuck! Short road trip to pick up the suburban after getting new shocks put on it. Boys will be thrilled to get their own car back. Spent the morning doing laundry even after trying everything to avoid it. Sis found my long lasting lipstick and smeared it all over her sweet little face. And it is long lasting. I cannot get it off! Dr. visit to get abdominal x ray. Its still there. Very high. Go back Tues a.m. for re-check. Then on to GI doc. Yea! Lost sisters sandals in the hustle of pick up this afternoon. Last ditch effort found them smashed in the school parking lot! And Facebook...lets not even go there today. Thats a whole other post and I'm too tired. All I can say is what in the world are people thinking?!

#6

He's been asking for a rocket since Christmas so I finally gave in. But I forgot the wadding so he didn't get to shoot it. Talk about guilt trip! His grandparents & great grandparents got him a new bike. Just like his brothers. Complete with trick pegs. I see another ER visit in the near future :)

He also got a fishing pole. Forget dinner & birthday cake, he just couldn't understand why he wasn't going fishing right then!

He asked me to make his cake this year. Not great. It could have been worse. But he loved it.
