laughter, shock, & tears

Sisters favorite song last week was "Jesus loves Me". Before that it was "The Wheels on the Bus". Now its "Jesus loves me all through the town..." I need to record her and all her funny comments. She talks more than Little Man, if you can believe that!

Speaking of, I let him stay home with me yesterday. Big brother has missed several days to go hunting and after my fiasco with student of the month I decided he needed a special treat. Now to make sure he stays well the rest of the year so that I don't get in trouble for letting him skip :)

Ms. SW took around 600 pics of them Sat. night downtown. Super excited!

There was a group taking prom pics when we got to our first stop. They were off to the side

in front of the flowers so SW set up in front of a gate. She had all of her lighting set and the kids

almost positioned. The other group just walked right in front of them and said,

"Are you here to take pics too? We will be done in a little bit"

I was shocked. If it had been anyone else but SW with me, and maybe not in front of a church,

I probably would have shown a side of me that only hubby gets to see on occasion!!

WOW! Even the boys commented how rude they were.

So ready for this crazy weather to disappear. I know we will be asking for the rain long about July but enough is enough. Storms don't usually scare me too bad but we got drug to the ballpark last night, knowing the games would be cancelled. Sure enough we had to hang out long enough to let the lightening get way to close for comfort then start home. As we were sitting at a stoplight about 1/2 mile from the ballpark I thought a tornado was going to drop out of the sky. Both of the little ones were crying and holding hands and it was all I could do not to join them.

We made it but I think I need to have my hair colored again because there is a ton more gray!

Easter

We had a quiet laid back kind of day. Up and ready for church, on time, without any major events. And around here thats a pretty big feat. My dad even met us there. Mom, however, didn't make it because she tried to color her own hair again and it was a disaster. Lets just say we all had a good laugh at lunch!

Since it was so muddy and nasty we had to be creative and hide eggs around the driveway/sidewalk.

He didn't mind too much. I think we did it about 6 times.

She wasn't worried about the mud at all. She went right through it!

comfort food

not sure whose fault the "trauma" was, but we'll blame it on hubby ;)

this was dinner Tuesday night and breakfast Wednesday morning,

because I missed almost all of this...
my Little Man was student of the month!
WOW! How did that happen?! just kidding...sort of ;)
Super proud of him!!
I worked Monday night and got off late, hit every light coming home,
and got behind a bus that stopped twice!
I made it at the VERY last minute.
I was one sad momma. For once his daddy "won the prize"

Several people told him he got the award
for most family in attendance.
My parents and grandparents were there.
Guess they just didn't understand how big
of a deal it really was for HIM to get it. Ha!

tonight we dyed eggs. his were roll on paint.

her's were glitter, but she stole something
from her brother here.

his were tye dyed.

That sweet student of the month told his sister that Mr. E was going to run over her with his dump truck. Like I said, how did he get it exactly?!

this morning she dumped an entire bottle of baby powder out in my bathroom floor. For those of you who know what the tile looks like, it was full of holes. Now its full of powder. And even though I have cleaned it, there is a never ending layer of dust on EVERYTHING. It looked like a bomb went off and she looked like an indian with war paint on. Hubby wanted to know why I didn't take a picture. wasn't really in a picture taking kind of mood at that moment!

Speaking of him. He's gone. Again. And he was kind enough to warn me we were having overnight company in advance. About 2 hours in advance. The day after I worked and hadn't slept. Then wanted to know what my plans were for dinner. After a baseball game.

Needless to say I don't think the cupcakes got the reaction he was expecting.

I spent the day with my grandmother today. I so need to make an effort to do it more often. A very dear, sweet friend of hers passed away suddenly yesterday. And I had to tell her. They were like sisters. Almost like a second grandma to me when I was younger. She wanted to take food but wasn't able to do that much on her own. We went to Harps, Sams, Walgreens, and CV's gathering all her stuff. (when I offered I was thinking Walmart) Then to their house to deliver it. Her friend was the caregiver to a husband who suffers from severe alzheimers. He doesn't remember that she has passed and they had to tell him 3-4 times just today. He gets so upset every time. He had no idea who my grandmother was and they have been friends for almost 60 years. It was awful to see them all go through that. A very tough reminder that we are only here as long as He wants us to be.

Be thankful. Forgive. Love with all your heart.

too funny

My little man....what can I say. He was getting ready for baseball practice and having a hard time following directions. When he sat down to have me tie his cleats, I asked what was going on. He said, "mom, I've just been here too long. The good is wearing off" he went on to clarify that the "here" part was in reference to being a part our family.

Not sure about him! Saturday I convinced my mom to take a much needed break from work and venture up the hill with me. I went to look at a vehicle. We are still discussing what the best decision is. Even though we still don't have one made, I do know I will not be purchasing that one. My problem is that what I know we should do is not what I want to do. So, maybe I would be better to leave it all alone for now. Stinkin gas!!

Dad took the boys turkey hunting last weekend. They didn't kill anything but they saw 11. He wants them again this weekend. And hubby will be gone again. Bunch of rotten boys (all 3 of them!)

Last time I worked I got to go to Labor & Delivery. It only lasted til 4 am then I had to go back to peds to take an admit, but I loved every minute of it. Working again tonight and keeping my fingers crossed!

Sister has discovered Cadbury eggs. She is definately my child. Hubby bought me a package last week and I hid them from the kids (not nice, I know . But sometimes you gotta save something to keep you from going crazy!) I hid them so well I accused the boys of finding them. Poor things. & they really didn't do anything. I found them last night and re hid them :)

Yesterday I was in a cleaning mood. Not the dust, sweep, vacuum kind of clean. The empty closets, drawers, & cabinets kind of clean. I washed the mattress protectors, sheets, and comforters on all 4 beds (that was 12 loads) and I washed all the blankets in the linen closet the kids drag out. then I had to do all the dirty clothes. I went to bed with it still running and finished up this morning! My water bill may be as fun as my gas bill!

Guess I need to go take a nap while sis sleeps instead of sitting here.

lengthy, random thoughts

*We had so much fun Friday at the park. I have pics to post but getting lots of help from a 2 year old at the moment so they will have to wait til I am alone at the computer. Little man took quite a spill off of one of the spinning chairs. Seriously thought he might have a concussion but he recovered fine. It would be just like us to end up in the doctors office after we were doing something we weren't really supposed to :)

*Saturday Speck got to go turkey hunting with hubby and little man got left behind. So we went to play putt putt, toys r us, and Sip N Dipity (formerly Marble Slab) quite the busy day. When the hunters got home he even got to go fishing...just him & dad! Don't know about him but I was worn out. Friday their Papa is picking them up from school and they are going camping/hunting all weekend. Hubby will be gone too, it will be just me and sis. What to do?

*Saturday night hubby took me out to dinner. He made "secret" arrangements with mom to keep the kiddos. I knew there was something behind it. While we were waiting on our food he says "Oh yea, I am going to Kansas to turkey hunt the first weekend in May. We will be gone Thursday to Monday". No clue that Mothers Day and Specks 10th birthday are that Sunday! He is constantly digging a hole and standing on the edge. One of these days I'm gonna push him in ;)

*In a few weeks my dad is going to keep her so a friend and I can go up the hill for a fun filled day of food and shopping, completely kid free and with no time limits! Whoo Hoo! So excited! On a side note, my dad has NEVER kept her by himself, nor has he EVER changed a dirty diaper. Could be interesting.

*She is getting more bossy by the day. Lately she puts you in time out for being "ugy" and tells you to "be patient, do you hear me". And her oldest brother has taught her to say he is her favorite. Rotten. Little. Girl. But so sweet at the same time. I could just eat her up!! *Speck is about to be 10. What? double digits. O my. I may not make it.

*Little man has turned a corner I think. Complete personality change. I knew that sweet little boy was hiding in there somewhere. BUT...I did find a worm in my freezer last night. Can't be perfect!

*Baseball is just about to really get going. Yea! however, driving back and forth 4 times a week is going to kill me in gas.

*Speaking of, I have been entertaining the thought of downsizing. Last month it cost me $400 in gas just for my suburban. And thats not anything compared to what will happen this summer. Hubby wants me to get a car. I'm not sure about that. I'm leaning more toward a smaller SUV. Then again, we may just suffer through it. I can always work an extra night to pay the gas bill ;)

*Had a meeting at work yesterday with my supervisor. It went well. Although she still isn't going to let me transfer, it SOUNDS like it will work out like I am hoping. Guess we will just have to wait and see.

*Getting ready to start a new bible study. I sat out this last time and I have really been missing it.

oops!

ummmm, hmmm, well, I let them do it again. (the second time this year) I kept the boys home today for absolutely no good reason at all. At least not one that would be good enough for those who are in charge of all that kind of stuff! Sis was up most of the night with allergies and had finally settled in when the alarm went off, & I just couldn't do it. Little man & I have really been having a tough time this week. Not sure what it is. but the lack of respect/ability to follow directions had taken its toll on me last night. So I'm sure part of it was guilt on my part, since I had a complete and total meltdown, but none the less we are going to have a fun day. A few errands to run then a picnic in the park and no time limits to enjoy the sun!

still here

we're still around. just not too much interesting been going on. hubby has been out of town turkey hunting, imagine that. boys have had as many baseball practices cancelled as they have actually practiced. sis has bad allergies and has red watery eyes & is sneezing like mad. poor baby. knock on wood its not interfering with her sleep...yet. my supervisor isn't going to let me transfer to a different department. its ok though. things are working out for now. I was scheduled to work Sunday night and they called at the last minute to say I could stay home. YIPPEE!!! except that I had taken a pretty good nap and couldn't sleep that night :) then they called Monday to see if I could come in. are they nuts?! actually, I probably would have gone if he would have been here, but I didn't have a last minute, overnight sitter for 3 kiddos. o well, I'll get plenty more opportunities I'm sure. I have until Friday to decide if I am going to go to summer school. right now I'm thinking NO WAY! ready for this crazy weather to straighten up and get warm for good so we can play outside and sweat at the ball fields!
