I knew I would forget

My MIL retired this week. She says she is coming to visit more. Hubby says he is going to start traveling more! Sis got sick Monday, ("lost" a red snowcone in my car at the ballpark) & I didn't think we would make the party. It was at 2 on Tues afternoon in LR. Who does that?! Well, she was better, and I'm glad for that, but sure was hoping to get out of the trip :) Yesterday we all slept til 11:00. Hubby called about 11:15 wanting to know if we were up for lunch...we had just gotten up period! I had to get a cortizone shot in my foot today. The first joint under the big toe. O. MY. GOODNESS. Apparently I inherited bad feet from someone and doc says this is just the beginning. The boys said its because I'm getting old! So sweet.

catch up

I've been keeping a mental note of all the things I need to post. I think I should start keeping sticky note because I'm sure a lot of it will be left out!

Hubby and I went to the Colt Ford concert last week. We were the bad parents, both boys had baseball games & we let Nanaw do it "all"! (thanks to TC for instructions on how to "steal" pics!)

This is my dad and his dad watching one of the boys play baseball. The biopsy results came back. And they are not good. He has squamous cell carcinoma in his lungs. The doctor described it as a "monster". Over 2 inches. They are still waiting on the call from the oncologist to see what the next step is. My grandpa says I will know what to do and help him decide. I can't talk to either of them without crying. There is a difference in taking care of a patient and taking care of a family member. I only worked on the cancer floor for a short period of time. I know VERY LITTLE about it. But what I do know and what I have read, its not good. A sad reminder to cherish every moment and not take anything for granted. He gave Speck his 1977 Chevy pick up truck and hubby has been working on it. The only thing that is left is reupolstering the seats and paint. But it is up and running. We are taking it out there tonight so he can see it and take another ride. It had been sitting in his garage, not running for a while. It will be happy and sad at the same time.

Sis is doing great with potty training. I think she would actually be completely through if I had worked at it a little harder. For some reason I just haven't been in any hurry with her. She is learning all kinds of new phrases. Some not so neat. But no surprise with her 2 big brothers! This morning she was getting on to little man and informed him she was the princess and he couldn't do whatever it was he was doing.

The kids all had dentist appointments last week. It was the first time ever that we had no cavities! And sis did GREAT!

With Speck's ear (the hole is getting bigger instead of smaller) we can't go swimming or to the water park like we had planned. He packs it at the lake and can "float" but isn't getting to have much fun. We can't get in to ACH until July 28. Guess we'll have to stick to the movies and indoor playgrounds for summer fun. We are going to make a few short day trips to do some different stuff.

Baseball is officially over. Just the tournament left. And little man's team isn't playing. A little sad I don't have a t baller any more. At least not til sis can play!

This is the first day we have been home in a while. I have a list of things to be doing and I really do need to leave & go to Walmart. Guess I better get busy.

rough weekend

we headed for the lake friday...earlier than usual but not as early as planned. Saturday we ventured out on the boat and Speck was not a happy camper. He ended up riding home with a friend so his Nanaw could rescue him. I did ok but still more sore than I want to be and didn't handle the heat very well. Hubby got on another boat so he and little man could surf a bit. 4 hours later he returned. By that time I was the unhappy camper. Sunday the inlaws came to visit with the kiddos. ONLY because it was Fathers day, I was being a good sport & we went out again. (I really just wanted to come home) The SD card went nuts on my camera and it won't download/upload or print anything. Not sure whats on there but thinking its lost :( My grandpa fell for the 3rd time. He was outside and no one knew it. He couldn't step up to get in the back door. Hubby is going out there today to build a ramp. They have both had a rough go for a while but its getting a lot worse lately. They also found a spot on his lung. He goes for a needle biopsy on Wed. The dr told them he thinks its lymphoma. Now, I understand having to tell patients about medical conditions. BUT they are 85 years old. He has a heart condition, among many other things. They can't put him under general anesthesia and the options of chemo/radiation would likely take more of a toll than the disease itself. Needless to say they are FREAKING out. Why didn't the Dr. just tell them it was an area of concern that needed to be looked at further? He knows better. He has been their Dr. forever. What is wrong with him?! Now a very sweet 2 year old and her cute big brother are wanting popcicles for breakfast. Every good mom serves that, right?!

The results are in

and Speck is out for the summer. out of the water...for at least 6 weeks. he has a "huge" (the drs. words) hole in his eardrum. and because of the size and location it may not heal on its own. we go back for more investigating next week. sis on the other hand is great. her ears are nearly perfect, except for one pesky tube that is still hanging on, but he is willing to give her just a bit longer for it to come out. her tonsils are gigantic but he wants to wait 6 months. again, his words..."you may have a rough winter" but I'll see her back in Dec. and we will decide about taking them out. that was an ok answer yesterday but I'm sure I'll be rethinking it long about the first round of strep throat. now to get up and packing for the lake. what a fun weekend it will be with a cranky 10 year old stuck on the boat with me :(

The second week of summer

Started off with baseball camp a minor surgery on Monday, which resulted in me missing 2 baseball games that night, much to my dismay since I had it already planned to be there anyway! But I did drive my self to Walgreens while everyone was gone :) Tues they went back to camp and after a short rest we ventured to the movies and then on to a game. By the time we got home I was ready for bed. This morning started off at the Drs office for Speck. He woke me up around 1:30 c/o an ear ache. And with good reason. Dr. said it burst. Great. No water for him til its healed. He's thrilled and very pouty. He did make it on to camp. Only to be outdone by little brother who won the home run derby award for his age group. I'm sure he was proud of him in his own way, just not so that anyone else could see it! Sis had a haircut appointment which we were late for due to the necessity of the "slip & slide" after camp. Grabbed a quick lunch in the car (which has become way too frequent lately) then to walmart. Sis fell asleep on the way home and I almost couldn't get her out of the car. Little man is spending the night with a friend and worried I might forget to pick him up tomorrow. Sis has an ENT appointment that Speck has to tag along for. And while I'm out I might just have to start looking for a place to live. Don't want to jinx it but don't want to wait til the last minute either.

The first week of summer

is already gone :( The boys fought unbearably Tues & Wed so they missed out on their surprise. Maybe next week will be better. Thurs we went to Monkey House and lunch at McDonalds with friends and they had a great time. Only a couple of weeks of baseball left. Can't believe its going so fast! Even though they aren't winning the big boys are playing hard and making improvements. So proud of Speck last night. He doesn't pitch often, and when he does I usually don't want him to, but he did a good job! I'm haven't felt great all week and kept putting it off. Thinking I may end up in the w/i clinic this afternoon. No time for a sick mom with 3 kids at home! Hubby and I went out on a date and mom kept the kids Wed. night. Lets see, we started out at the mall. Exchanging his jeans. Hobby lobby to pick up a picture frame for Fathers Day. Dinner. Chuck E. Cheese to retrieve a pair of forgotten shoes. The store to pick up stuff for the lake this weekend and still managed to beat the kiddos home! Aren't we exciting?

M.I.A.

We are still here. For some reason I just can't seem to find the time to sit down in front of the computer. At least not by myself where I could get anything accomplished!

*Sis is still having ear/tonsil troubles. We FINALLY got an appointment to see the ENT but not til next week.

*The boys both got awards at school. Little Man got the math award for his class, a bookworm award, and made the principals roll. Speck made Honor roll and got a citizenship award.

*Sis comes up with something new everyday. And I imagine after the summer spent with her brothers her vocabulary will be expanded greatly. Last week in the car she said "Geez mom, did you hear me" yes. My sweet little 2 year old.

*Sat night we had some friends over for dinner and sis was sitting in K's lap and spit her chicken in her plate. Good thing she has small kids too but I was still HORRIFIED!!
*The boys didn't go to school yesterday or today. And the fighting has begun. We got art projects to work on for Fathers Day and that kept them busy for about 5 minutes. Today we are going to the library and I have a surprise for Wed and Thu...if they can behave long enough.
* Sis had oreos for breakfast. Sounds good to me but probably not a good habit for a 2 year old.
*I worked L & D again last week and it was unusually busy but I still really like it. I am off for 3 weeks and going to work every other Wed while the kids are out of school.
*We didn't make it to the lake last weekend because of make up baseball games. We did go Memorial Day and it was BUSY. Hubby usually backs the boat in and I pull the trailer out. That works only if I don't have to turn a corner or dodge any other vehicles. I almost took the front offf of a truck.
*Speck got right back up on the wakeboard. Little man tried to knee board and got a sore cheek bone. Sis loved the water. And I still don't get in. We shared the cove with a swimming snake . Perfect example why. My mom even tried to wakeboard!!
*I got blistered and a bruised tailbone that still hurts. I was trying to get out of the way when hubby was putting out the anchor and sat on the metal pole for the tube. OUCH.
