Plan B

OK, so I didn't end up in LR yesterday. I stopped on my way out of town to look at a suburban & they were able to work out the same deal here that I was going to get there with an added bonus, another vehicle! Only problem was they actually had 2 suburbans I wanted to look at and one was off the lot so as soon as it gets back today I am supposed to go back. Feeling much more relieved. I have struggled with this whole car thing since April when I got the Toyota. I really like the car I just cannot get past the guilt from spending the money. Hubby says he doesn't care what I do. Keep it. Sell it. Just DO SOMETHING & quit worrying. But I am a worrywort by nature. Last night the kids devotional was titled "Don't worry, be happy". Perfect. Its just a car. Its just a car. Its just a car. I have cried many tears over this but the tug at my heart isn't going away. And when I left the dealership yesterday with a decision made to get rid of it I felt so much better. I am sure people will talk. Its a small town. I've heard things said about others and pray I am not one who contributed to it. We are selling our house & my car. Oh my what it must look like. I don't like to be a topic of conversation (good or bad) but its ok. Like a sweet friend said, "the people who know you will know why and you know why" and shes right. and thats what matters. So, not to sound conceited as if to be interesting enough to be talked about, but FYI just in case...I chose to sell my car. We are selling our house because we want to. We are fine.

running and running and running...

I think thats all we've been doing lately. We have only shown the house once but had several calls. I forgot what its like to have to keep it clean & ready for anyone at any time! We started working on ideas for the next one. We are using this plan but making lots of changes, like cutting out about 800 sq feet and so far I really like it. The first time was a real learning experience ;)

More changes are in the works. I sold my Sequoia. I did it last week but was still a little hesitant. That all ends today. We are taking it to LR this afternoon. Only problem is I don't have another vehicle yet! Hubby isn't too concerned, but he's not the one home with 3 kids. I found a suburban in Dallas but the salesman is a little forgetful on returning phone calls & I am having a hard time keeping hubby interested. O well. Maybe that means its not the right one. My brother has a Honda Accord that is sitting at my grandparents that I can drive if I have to but hubby sold it too, so my time is kind of limited. I am a planner and like to have it all worked out before I change anything so this is a little stressful. But in the end it will be more simple, better I am sure!

Got a phone call from the hospital this week (from an application quite some time ago) and I have a job interview on Monday. Interesting. Didn't want to say no right off the bat, so we will see. I think I have an ulcer.

Speck finally had his baseball party. (no pics from little man's since I wasn't there & sending dad with a camera didn't work)
can't believe the season is already over (even though it lasted longer this year, time flew by)

great group of boys having lots of fun! Before you know it we will be signing up for next year.
Now its on to fall baseball. We are very excited with his coaches and team mates. It won't be the same as these boys, but hopefully a good season.

Sister is turning into quite the little turkey. But in her defense, she is the only girl and so much younger, I shouldn't expect any different. She can be sweet and loving one minute and rotten and onery in the next breath. Her new favorite thing is singing and dancing for you. Not sure exactly what she sings and I hope she eventually gets her moves from her daddy, but she sure is cute!

Yesterday I took the kids to see the "Giant alligator & crocodile" in the CVs parking lot. It really was kind of interesting but a little too close for comfort as far as I was concerned. There were lots of big gross snakes too, like the ones on Animal Planet. They loved it.
We leave next week for CA. The high is only 60 so I am digging out jeans & light jackets. A little worried about sis on the airplane. I'm sure it will be an adventure. One that hubby says he is so glad he isn't in on :)
Not sure what happened to the blog background. Needing some help from TH I think! She already helped me this week. I found a dresser (dish hutch/pie cabinet) at the antique store & it is getting painted for Sisters room. Neither of us had a camera but we sure needed one. Like she said "give us girls a car with enough room and we can do anything"! I think we made the kids nervous.
Took Speck to the orthodontist & they are already talking about taking his braces off. WOW. He's excited, I would be, but I'm afraid they will have to go back on in a few years when all the teeth are there. Hmmm...

2 of my favorite guys

We left sis with Nanaw & headed up the hill for a little "mom & son" time.
lunch @ Zaxbys. Pictures are so painful sometimes!
Little man asked one day earlier in the week if we could go ice skating. I said, WHAT?! So with a little click of the mouse I found what he was talking about and off we went. Ice skating in July.

Not too sure at first.

He took to it pretty well. Until the first spill, then he didn't want to go anymore but I convinced him he was fine & had been hit with the baseball harder than that so he got up and off he went.
Toward the end litte man got a little more nerve and actually did really well. I was about 50 feet from the exit & it was like slow motion. I felt my feet just go out from under me and I knew I was going down. I hit hard. The entire right side of my body. I really wanted to cry but both boys were already upset that I fell ( I think it might have been as I took this pic :) so I sat there for a minute and managed to get up. needless to say I am SOOOO sore tonight & imagine tomorrow will be even worse. I think I am too old for this but they want to know when we are going back.

patience is a virtue

And they paid off for little man! he found the missing bunny. even though we didn't see it, he was SURE he did...and he was right. The bunny was fine and ran like mad when they put him outside.

But hubby might need to learn a little more about this. Not that we have anything to be in a hurry for, but he had me look at a few house plans and wanted me to measure our rooms here to get an idea of what to change. He does this stuff everyday so its quick & easy for him. Not so much on my end. We didn't disagree on much when we built this house. I was fairly agreeable since I hadn't ever done it before. This time I am going to be a little more involved. He is not liking that, even at this point. I feel sure there is a lesson to be learned here.

The Abundant Life

A bible study I have been working on. "Get a Life" by Vicki Courtney. I have figured out my quiet time is early in the morning when hubby goes to work and kiddos are still in bed. This morning I was reading and WOW, I just thought last week's was for me. This one was written with my name in mind! I have had this "tug" at my heart for some time now. Hadn't really mentioned it to anyone, even hubby. But Friday night we had a discussion. Hmmm...we were thinking the same thing (sort of) Saturday night I had the discussion with a sweet friend & we really were thinking the same thing. Simplify. At first I struggled, did I REALLY want to, what would people think (sad huh) would I regret it, will it really make me happier? don't get me wrong, I'm not unhappy, not at all. I don't know how to describe it except a heavy tug. Something needs to change. So the first step? We met with the realtor yesterday. We put our house up for sale. A little scary, even now. But we'll just wait and see. You don't know if you don't try, and there are a LOT of houses for sale out here so who knows, we may be here regardless and thats ok. I'm praying there will be more changes to follow. The title of this weeks lesson "I'll have what she's having". The lesson: material things are not important. We have been married 12 wonderful years. He is a great husband & father. We haven't always been able to do what we can now, but we have always been happy. and thats the point. Material things have changed but the foundation hasn't. So...simplify.

"wascally wabbit"

OK, so last night I was making mashed potatoes for Speck & sis while hubby mowed the yard. All of a sudden he is beating on the back door. I thought something happened so I ran to open it. He is standing there with a blue bucket over my head saying "look what I found". My first thought was a snake so I ran. He sat it on the floor and there was a tiny baby bunny. He found it in the yard and picked it up. The bunny was squealing & sis did not like that a bit. Much to my dismay they fixed him up a little home in a box & put it in the laundry room. When Speck got up this morning the first thing he went to do was check on the rabbit. (Something I hadn't even thought about) He says "mom, wheres the rabbit"? I just figured hubby let him go this morning or maybe he didn't make it through the night. About an hour later he called so I asked. & he said "he was in the box when I left for work". Hmmm...the laundry room door to the house was open & the box was empty so that means I have a cotton tail baby loose in my house somwhere! We have looked in, under, on, behind, and through everything we can take apart. No luck. Not looking forward to finding him, especially if it takes a few days :(
