lucky little man, lucky me

I ended up not having to work Tuesday night so Wednesday I let Little Man have his turn with a skip day. We didn't do anything over the top or extraordinary. Lunch with hubby @ Chilis, Lowes for some new plants, Wal Mart, just because I can pretty much go any day of the week and pick up something I forgot or didn't know I needed the day before! We did stop and get him a new pair of "toe shoes" as he calls them. The kind that have a cut out/spot for all 5 toes. He had a pair before that he outgrew and were super hard to get on, but these seemed a little easier so I reluctantly gave in. A trip to Academy to look at a new bat. But he decided that wasn't necessary, he is perfectly content to use his brothers. Less expensive for me! All was good until it was time to go get brother & sister from school. He was not happy at all. There was no reason in his sweet little mind to go get them! Hubby and I worked outside the rest of the evening and redid the flowerbed. Nothing too much, but most of my plants had died and it was just an empty pile of dirt. So a few new bushes and 20 bags of mulch later its looking a little better.

back to school...well, 2 out of 3 anyway

I let Speck have a skip day yesterday. We spent the day hanging out & shopping. Got him set for at least the first part of summer, he is growing like a weed! Had a fun lunch and of course made a mad dash to buy groceries before time to get sister & Little man. Thursday we made the trip to ACH for a visit. He said what I was expecting, but not what I wanted. It is ruptured again. The hole isn't as big as before and the dr is hoping it will close on its own. We are waiting a few months and go back for another check up. If it doesn't close, but doesn't get any bigger, the repair will be "minor" compared to the other 2 surgeries. He has moderate hearing loss. I am supposed to work tonight. Really hoping I don't have to, but of course I'm sure I will. Sis did not want to nap today :/

spring break so far

Wet. Wet. Wet.

But before it all hit we headed up the hill for a baseball game last Sat with some friends and the inlaws. It was, um, an experience :)
Hubby thought he would be sweet and offer to take the kiddos to get ice cream on the way home. So not only did we stop at the newest yogurt shop but then managed to make it next door to a new diner and eat cheeseburgers. For the rest of us it was not a big deal. Hubby, however, who only eats healthy, went to bed SICK!! The phone rang about 10:30 that night & it was our realtor. There was a couple wanting to see the house at 10:30 Sunday am. So I stayed up til about 1 am cleaning. I let hubby sleep til about 9 then woke him up and rushed him around & out the door. We went grocery shopping while they showed the house and the boys played outside most of the afternoon while he mowed and me & sis napped.

Monday we went to the movies and ran into some friends. What a fun surprise!

Tuesday we went to a new pizza place in town. Well, maybe not that new, but new to me anyway! The food was pretty good and the kids had a great time!!

Wednesday we took my grandma to lunch for her birthday and shopping for a little while. O. My. Goodness. Thats all I can say. After we got home I got a phone call. Someone had gotten a hold of my debit card #...AGAIN! This time it was to the accout we pay all the bills out of. Thankfully the bank denied the charges and closed it out. But what a pain this is going to be. Not to mention we are going out of town this weekend and I don't have a debit card to either account now. Yes, I realize there is such a thing as cash, but geez...

Today...off to ACH...prayers for his ear :(

hes stuck a while longer

Drs office just called as I was sitting here. My test results are all normal. Guess that means he won't be trading me in anytime soon ;)

Branson was fun. Spent some fun times with an old friend and made a new one. We shopped, and shopped, and shopped. The weather turned out beautiful on Saturday and rained all the way home on us Sunday. The only real draw back to the weekend is that someone got a hold of my bank card and bought minutes to call Mexico. No major harm done, just a real pain in the neck. I NEVER use that account (because there isn't ever any money in it) so I'm pretty sure I know who it was because of timing. I can't prove it so just gotta say a prayer for them & go on. Maybe they really needed the money.

I was supposed to work last night but got to stay home & play outside with the kiddos. More fun I'm sure!

We are going to Dallas next weekend, much against my judgement. But hubby has begged & bargained to get me to go. As much as I wasn't looking forward to it I have found a silver lining. An old friend of mine (as in since age 5) lives there and we are going to meet for lunch Saturday. We haven't seen each other in 10 years. But I am excited!

Both boys have started baseball. They are both playing on different teams this year. Little man is great. Hes made new friends and already planning sleep overs. Speck, not so much. He needs a little (shove) encouragement :/

Working on a few plans for spring break next week. They will be at my in laws thursday-sunday but we are trying to do something fun before they go.

I think I mentioned it, but if not, his ear drum ruptured again. Fun. Surgeon on Thursday.

there is a first time for everything

I have been a mom for almost 11 years now (how did that happen?!) & I have NEVER EVER left my kids overnight, much less an entire girls weekend away. My mom has kept them when hubby and I went out of town. And he has kept them while I went to dinner and a movie with friends, maybe the occasional shopping outing, and of course when I work. But not an entire weekend. This weekend will be a learning experience for everyone, me included! I am leaving tomorrow night and not coming home until Sunday, girls only...no husbands, no kids, nothing. Just us! I'm not sure what to do with myself. Now, usually when we are going out of town I have been packing for a week. Making sure all is done and nothing is forgotten. This time, I haven't even started laundry. Hmmm...I have every intention of having lots of fun, but I will worry too. Maybe the kids will be a little more behaved if they miss me just a little bit. If you see him around town, look twice just to make sure all 3 kids are with him and still breathing ;)

I was supposed to work night shift Tuesday. Called @ 5 pm to see what unit I would be in and they said 4200. Headed up there only to be sent home and instructed to return at 7 am the next day. Geez...I knew there was a reason I like nights better. Days are CRAZY! I am way more tired today after that mess than I ever am after staying up all night.

The skunk smell has returned. Not as in they were sprayed again. But the house has this lingering "yuck". Yippee.

Living Life

My papa finished his last radiation treatment yesterday. The tumor has shrunk and he is not having any health issues related to the cancer. Priase God! Trying to convince my grandmother that this is a good thing is a very difficult task. The odds of this outcome were 1 in 5. I'm all for positive thinking and giving the patient hope, but they (she) REALLY believed he was that 1 in 5. Now instead of being happy, she is mad. And she thinks the Dr. lied to them and "lead them on". She is having some health issues all her own at the moment. A whole new diagnosis 2 weeks ago & her Dr. said it will most likely continue to get worse and there isn't much that can be done at this point. When I was sitting in the oncology office with them this week I found something that really hit a soft spot with me...

Living Life

Life is not a race, but indeed a journey. Be honest. Work hard. Be choosy.

Say thank you, I love you, & great job to someone everyday.

Go to church. Take time for prayer. The Lord giveth & the Lord taketh.

Let your handshake mean more than pen & paper.

Love your life & what you have been given. It is not accidental.

Search for your purpose & do it as best you can.

Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you aspire to be.

Laugh often.

Appreciate the little things and enjoy them.

Some of the best things in life really are free.

Don't worry. Less wrinkles are more becoming.

Forgive, it frees the soul.

Take time for yourself, plan for longevity.

Recognize the special people you have been blessed to know.

Live for today and enjoy the moment.

I posted before that I deleted my FB page last week. When I told hubby, he did away with his too. I didn't ask him to, or even suggest it. I did it all on my own, just for me. But its been such a good thing for us. We all talk more. Sit in the floor and play games, go outside & play together. Its funny, all we did was delete 1 app out of our lives. One that we lived without for 35 years. We still have phones, texting, TV, e mail...but you wouldn't know it ;)

gross, but too funny not to share

This morning on the way to school all 3 of them were fussing back and forth about something. There is always so much commotion I tune a lot of it out...bad mom...anyway all of a sudden little man starts SCREAMING. Sis had picked her nose (yes lovely, I realize, but also a little sister to 2 gross big brothers who teach her all kinds of things) and stuck it in his ear. I couldn't help but laugh. Again, bad mom, but it was hilarious. Especially if you know him :) he kept asking "What did I do to deserve that" Hmmm...I didn't have enough time to list them all before they had to get out of the car. It was definately a belly laugh kind of moment to start the day.
